At the beginning of the fall semester of 2001, the four of us decided to take a Women's Studies activism class. We had no idea what we were getting into, but here we are. We decided to do our action project on the media and their impact on the constructions of body images. And what better way to challenge the evil media than to create our own feminist zine, but a la 21st-Century-style.
An e-zine is an online magazine, and this is our very first time both working together and doing a project like this. It took a lot of work, commitment, and even passion to create this amateur, but hopefully meaningful, zine. We are not intellectuals, nor are we experts in the ways and beings of feminisms. However, we are strongly outraged at today's mainstream media and hope that our analysis help others open their eyes and minds. This e-zine intends to encourage discourses, rather than imposing our views. So, check us out and tell us what you think; pass it on to your friends and continue the dialogue. RESIST, RESIST, RESIST!!! In solidarity, Clare, Laura H, Laura P, Sam, Lydia, and Cristal |
